Turning a corner....

I finally rounded the first corner last night on the VLT stole!!!!!!!!!!! I did fudge the corner a little but I am pleasantly surprised how well it turned out. This is only my 2nd time of knitting a border onto a shawl on the 1st one had more instructions than the VLT book provides for these sort of things......

For future reference Fleegle has just posted an article on a easy method of grafting the edges of a knitted on border together, which if I hadn't started on the border already I would have been trying out....

Also completed yesterday was the Regia Kaffe Fassett 'Mirage' Storm socks...... I am pleased with the fabric and the colours are pleasant and 'safe' for a man you've never given socks to before; well I really couldn't give a Coats rep Opal, Trekking or Lana Grossa could I????

I wouldn't want to knit another 'Mirage' pattern they're a bit bland to knit I prefer something with a bit of a pattern going on even stripes, but just as well we're not all the same or life would be dull...

Eadaoine asked on previous post how many yards the Swallowtail had taken - approx 460 yds

I hate turning corners, but you look like you did a great job! I do like your socks. I don't think they are bland at all.

I wish I had used my method too. Try it with a few rows of scrap yarn. I am still trying to figure out how I can make it simpler for those who didn't get my explanation.

I actually like turning corners. I makes me feel like I'm getting closer to the finish line. And now with fleegle's new method of grafting, the finish line will be a lot easier.

What yarn are you using for your VLT stole?
The mirage socks look nice. They're not for you and for a man that's not bland at all.

That shawl is looking beautiful - I love the colour. When I did a VLT shawl I found it was best not to dwell on how many feet of border I needed to do to finish for fear of sinking in a crumpled heap!

When am I going to do a book of useful tips?

N.e.v.e.r.

I have written several books and I will never do it again. No.

Nice job turning the corner! I always mess that up. I have the Sampler stole edge using fleegle's method and it looks good to me. The socks also look terrific to me. You can't go wrong with socks in my opinion.
