all comments are gratefully recieved and appreciated as sometimes when I spend a lot of time with something I get too focused in trying to get it right I invariably fall out with it :(
I am going to take two rows out and try the nesting effect again just to see the effect of the patterns closer together.....
Then I am going to make a decision which format the pattern repeat will take, cast off an experiment with a border.....

Heres my opinion - as a non-expert LOL
I love both ways, but slightly prefer the nesting ones. I think if they nested any closer you would lose the visual impact of the nests.
Either way, its a beautiful piece of work : )
i'm unsure of the nested ones. I think if you have i prefer your first method. :s
I like the nested version, but I might remove one or two rows of plain knitting so they seem to cuddle a bit.
